Was The Will Smith Slapping Of Chris Rock Real Or Staged?

Was The Will Smith Slapping Of Chris Rock Real Or Staged?

By now you saw Will Smith smack the fire out of Chris Rock unless. you were sleeping. This incident happened at the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony. Last night, was a pretty cool show and had a plethora of diversity. We pretty much knew Will Smith was going to win, but we didn’t know there was a tremendous plot twist on his way to winning the best actor for his role in “King Richard.”

The 94th Academy Awards was turned into a circus when Chris Rock made an off-color joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hairdo, which was closely cropped. She was all the way beautiful – straight up! Jada Pinkett Smith bald isn’t all that funny, but it’s even less funny because she suffers from alopecia. The G.I. Jane joke did not go over well to Will or Jada. Jada‘s face became noticeably furrowed when Rock made the joke. After the comment, Will Smith calmly walked on stage at the Academy Awards and slapped Chris Rock before he could finish his bit.

The incident turn social media into a fire storm of confusion and commentary. Everybody was analyzing it, the Australian and Japanese uncensored version went into circulation, and people were trying to wrap their brains around an apparent act of violence at the esteemed Oscars award show. By the way, this was one of the most diverse outings for the Academy. So, Latinx and African-Americans were well represented.

And then this happened!

For all intent and purposes, it appears that the slap was real. Will Smith had a profanity-laden diatribe after doing the slap. He repeatedly said “keep my wife’s name out your f##kin’ mouth!” Over and over.  By the way, Lupita was the co-star. Her face had me cracking up!

Chris Rock, while remaining extremely professional, became disheveled and confused, and stumbled over his words as he started to ease back into the teleprompter. He managed to get through it, but it definitely did not seem like he expected to get slapped on stage.

And yet, the word “staged” was trending on Twitter. Many people asked the question, “Was the interaction between Chris Rock and Will Smith staged?“

I don’t know! I doubt it. However there are some things that suggest it was. This is what Will looked like at the time of the joke:

You can see Jada was not feeling it.

Then, Brooklyn’s own Chris Rock let a grown man walk up on him and he had both of his hands behind his back the entire time. Perhaps he thought Will was going to hug him, but I am not sure the energy would suggest that.

Thirdly, Will had an incredible speech after he won the best actor honor, and it created a moment that will will always talk about. Otherwise, the Oscars were just regular. Nope but regular.

I think we now have some thing that we’re going to talk about for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks. That is what you call controlling tonight at the narrative!

WHat do you think, Was The Will Smith Slapping Of Chris Rock Real Or Staged? appeared first on MusixFlix.

Now, I am just curious as to what will happen next. And that will REALLY determine whether or not is real or fake. If nothing happens, I’m going to think that it’s likely to be fake. If Chris Rock sues and goes forward in a legal manner, it’s definitely all real. If Will Smith pays any money, it’s all real. So now we just have to wait-and-see!

One thing is for sure, Will Smith did not apologize to Chris Rock from the stage. He apologized to the Academy and others but he did not apologize directly to Chris Rock. For those of us that have had some interactions with the law & legal, you never admit to anything. You never admit to a crime! An apology would be a form of guilt in my opinion. I am no lawyer, but that’s what I think.

Now, I want to know what you think! Do you think this whole thing was staged? And if not, what do you think about Will Smith slapping the absolute fire out of Chris Rock?

By the way, there’s some more smoke. Will had jokes for Will and Jada a few years back.

Will Chris Rock press charges on Will Smith?

Here are some memes.

The star also thanked his fans for their condolences over the recent death of his beloved cat Eye in the Dark. His son Mingus Reedus had announced the passing of the family’s pet on his Instagram Story earlier this month.

“Most of all thank you for the eye in the dark messages,” the Walking Dead actor wrote. “I really loved that little cat.”

Norman Reedus is on the mend.

E! News can confirm Reedus was injured while on the Walking Dead set. “Norman suffered a concussion on set,” an AMC spokesperson said in a statement. “He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern.”

Killer Secrets About The Walking Dead

The star was due to take part in the Fandemic Tour but postponed his appearance to get some much-needed rest. “We are sending all of our thoughts and positive energy to Norman Reedus,” the organizers announced on Instagram March 16. “Everyone in our amazing community knows how much he loves his fans, and he wants you to know how terrible he feels about the situation. However, we all want him to do what is best for his health. Let’s send him all of our well-wishes and hope for a speedy recovery.”

Reedus is set to star opposite Melissa McBride in the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff tentatively titled Daryl & Carol, which is reportedly set to premiere later this year.

Though not much has been revealed about the new show, Reedus previously told IMDb it will be “completely different” from the Walking Dead and other episodes that centered on Daryl and Carol.

And in a previous media release, Reedus shared that he couldn’t wait to see what the future holds. “Daryl’s relationship with Carol has always been my favorite relationship on the show (sorry Rick),” he shared. “I love the way these characters interact and relate to each other on so many levels and can’t wait to see where their ride goes from here.”

The spinoff also indicated that Daryl and Carol were safe from the zombies and other foes, but the fate of other stars wasn’t so clear. “I think they should always be worried about their favorites,” McBride said with a laugh to E! News in August. “Even I’m worried about them.”

However, fans now know that Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan‘s Maggie and Negan are going to make it out of the 11th and final season alive. They will go on to star in their own show, currently titled Isle of the Dead.

Morgan, who plays Negan, teased the series in a statement, saying, “I’m beyond excited to continue his journey in New York City with Lauren. Walkers in an urban setting has always been such a cool image, but 5th Avenue, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty? The greatest city in the world? The backdrop is amazing, but it’s the story that Eli Jorné cooked up that is even better. Buckle up folks, Isle of the Dead is going to reinvent the TWD Universe.”

‘Power’ Star Omari Hardwick & ‘Snowfall’ Star Damson Idris Link Up For A Photo

While Power stans and Snowfall stans argue online, the respective lead actors of each series recently displayed a sign of solidarity. Omari Hardwick (Power‘s James “Ghost” St. Patrick) posted an Instagram photo with Damson Idris (Snowfall‘s Franklin Saint).

Both James “Ghost” St. Patrick and Franklin Saint are drug dealers. Ghost’s story is set in present-day New York City. The Franklin character drew inspiration from Los Angeles native “Freeway” Rick Ross, the infamous crack-cocaine kingpin who established a nationwide narcotics empire in the 1980s.

“Both played a Saint for make-believe. Both made to make those who been told they can’t… believe they too can achieve,” wrote Omari Hardwick about himself and Damson Idris in the Instagram caption. He added #DandO and #FranklinSaintSaintPatrick to the IG post.

The original Power ran for six seasons from 2014 to 2020. Courtney A. Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s highly-rated show spawned the Power Book II: GhostPower Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force spin-offs.

Snowfall began airing on July 5, 2017. It quickly earned critical praise. The John Singleton-created television series premiered its fifth season on February 23, 2022, with the “Comets” and “Commitment” episodes.

The 25 Best ‘Toonami’ Shows of All Time

The 25 Best ‘Toonami’ Shows of All Time

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Toonami, let’s look at the 25 best shows to be part of the action block’s regular lineup.

It’s impossible to tell the story of action cartoons in the US without mentioning Toonami. Launched in 1997, the programming block introduced multiple generations to giant robots, energy blasts, and a kaleidoscopic array of indelible characters on its way to pantheon status for American geekdom.

The outset of its run — which was initially hosted by Space Ghost Villain Moltar — began with shows like Thundercats, Cartoon Roulette, Voltron, and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. A year later, the block added Sailor Moon and an under-the-radar show called Dragon Ball Z into the lineup. While DBZ had been a massive hit in Japan, the series — the English dub for which originally premiered on UPN in 1996  — had yet to establish a strong foothold in the US. By 1999, it was arguably the most popular show on Cartoon Network.

In subsequent years, which saw a robot by the name of TOM (Toonami Operations Module) take over hosting duties, Toonami would continue leading an influx of Anime into the US, introducing its audience to additional shows like Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto and countless others. Additionally, the block also made space for established American  shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and The Powerpuff Girls.

Due to decreased ratings, Toonami ended its initial run in March 2008, but four years later, at the insistence of fans, it returned, and it’s been maintaining ever since.

Today, in celebration of Toonami’s 25th anniversary, it’s time to look at the 25 best shows to be part of the action block’s regular lineup. Peep the list below.

25. Inuyasha/Inuyasha: The Final Act (2012)

The story of Kagome and Inuyasha’s quest to collect some mystical jewel shards and defeat Naraku definitely got repetitive, but, with its blend of romance and inventive action, Inuyasha is a legendary anime.

24. Mobile Suit Gundam (2001)

Like most other Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam combines a sophisticated political plot with epic mecha action.

23. Samurai Jack (2014)

Originally introduced in 2001, Samurai Jack is the story of a time-traveling warrior who fights to destroy a near-omnipresent monster. Created and directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the show makes the most of silence and lets its gorgeous visuals, extravagant worlds, and kick-ass action tell a story of vengeance, and helped it secure a spot in the pantheon of great Cartoon Network original shows.

22. Sailor Moon (1997)

For a lot of people, Sailor Moon was a gateway drug to anime fandom. The show centers on a group of super powered teenage girls with alter-egos that correspond to planets in the Earth’s solar system. There’s action, there’s romance, and a lot of corniness — a combo that makes this one as iconic as they come.

21. Rurouni Kenshin (2003)

Rurouni Kenshin follows the exploits of a legendary assassin who attempts to save an innocent bystander after swearing an oath against killing. Although it gets hampered by filler, few TV series could match Rurouni Kenshin’s blend of history, stylized violence, and characterization.

20. The Powerpuff Girls (1999)

A legendary Cartoon Network original, The Powerpuff Girls focused on three homemade superheroes who fight to protect their city while balancing typical elementary school stuff like homework. Sugar, spice, and sharp pop culture humor helped make the show a refreshing change of pace amid one-note action cartoons of the era.

19. FLCL (2013)

Gorgeous artwork, an inventive plot, and carefully considered characterization make FLCL one of Toonami’s most memorable TV series.

18. Batman Beyond (2001)

Taking place more than 20 years after health issues forced Bruce Wayne to retire from life as Batman, Batman Beyond follows the adventures of Terry McGinnis, a 17-year-old who’s just become the new Dark Knight. Dynamic world-building, an inventive premise, and a surprisingly memorable new rogues gallery helped make this WB original one of the best superhero cartoons of its era — and a Toonami classic.

17. Superman: The Animated Series (2000)

Following in the footsteps of Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series merged complex themes with high-level action and multi-layered plots for a stylish update to the Man of Steel mythos.

16. One Piece (2005)

Pairing colorful adventure with impeccable action, One Piece revolves around Monkey D. Luffy as he hits the open seas in an attempt to become the king of the pirates.  A sub-par 4Kids dub made some US fans less than enthused when it first hit Toonami back in 2005, but in general, One Piece is one of the most popular anime ever, and it’s definitely a dope watch.

15. Bleach (2006)

Ichigo Kurosaki is more or less your typical 15-year-old when he’s charged with mystical spiritual abilities and the responsibility of protecting souls while fighting against lost ones. Filled with high-stakes drama, humor, wholesome characters, and intricate battles, Bleach is one of the best anime to pop up on Toonami.

14. Samurai Champloo (2016)

Shinichiro Watanabe broke a lot of ground when he directed the genre-fusing space western Cowboy Bebop in 1998, but his follow up show, Samurai Champloo, was also pretty dope. This one follows the exploits of two powerful lone wolf swordsmen who lose a coin toss and are forced to accompany a girl on a mission to find her father. Whereas Bebop was infused with jazz and blues, Champloo was laced with lo-fi hip-hop and countless other references to rap culture.

13. Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing (2000)

Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing follows the journey of five teenage freedom fighters who pilot special robots called Gundams in order to free space colonies from oppressive rule. Blending a smart political plot with epic Mecha action, Gundam Wing became one of the most popular Cartoon Network shows shortly after its premiere in 2000.

12. Hunter x Hunter (2016)

Yoshiro Togashi set a high standard for himself when he created Yu Yu Hakusho, but all things considered Hunter x Hunter might actually be his best creation. The series follows a young boy named Gon Freecss, who becomes a Hunter — a martial artist/explorer tasked with hunting rare creatures and treasures across the globe — in order to locate his father. With intricate world building and a more unpredictable plot that doesn’t go into autopilot martial arts tournament mode, Hunter x Hunter has almost all of Hakusho’s strengths and none of the weaknesses.

11. One-Punch Man (2016)

One-Punch Man explores the adventures of Saitama, a self-made superhero who became an indestructible and unstoppable crime fighting force after doing a little running and basic calisthenics for a few years. Equal parts shonen satire and superhero epic, the series pokes fun at various anime tropes while providing the high-stakes action and emotional thrills of your stories.

10. Astro Boy (2004)

This OG revamp brought one of Japan’s most legendary manga characters back to life in electric fashion. The series explores the life of Atom, a super-powered, yet borderline human robot who strives to feel human while saving the day. His cheer demeanor and nigh-unlimited strength helped set the archetype for future shonen characters to follow

9. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited (2003)

Building off everything that made the Batman and Superman animated series work so well, Justice League and its sequel series, Justice League Unlimited, meshed iconic characters with storylines that kids and adults could appreciate.

8. My Hero Academia (2018)

My Hero Academia takes the best qualities of shonen without much of their pitfalls. It’s got the big, flashy explosions and gratifying power-ups of a DBZ, but like Naruto, its fights and the abilities of the characters are multidimensional enough that the biggest gun doesn’t always win, and minor characters aren’t rendered footnotes.

7. Naruto/Naruto Shippuden (2005)

Picking up where shows like Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho left off, Naruto is an apex shonen anime. The series unfolds in a universe where ninjas are deployed like soldiers, and a kid named Naruto Uzumaki ventures to become its greatest warriors. With a deft blend of flashy explosions and dynamic fight strategies, it avoided the monotony of Dragon Ball Z while proving even more character development.

6. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2012)

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood follows the story of two brothers whose lives are irreversibly altered after trying to use alchemy to resurrect their mother. What ensues is an adventure laced with smart plot points, inventive powers, and emotional storytelling.

5. Yu Yu Hakusho (2003)

Fourteen-year-old Yusuke Urameshi goes from delinquent to savior in Yu Yu Hakusho, a supernatural martial arts anime filled with lovable characters and intense action. If Dragon Ball Z was the first anime you ever watched, Yu Yu Hakusho’s dynamic fight scenes and epic tournament setups pulled you in from the jump. Its well-developed character arcs kept you there.

4. Attack on Titan (2014)

In a few words, Attack on Titan is it. The show follows Eren Jaeger and other soldiers who struggle against a race of gigantic, human-eating monsters who’ve roamed the land for over 100 years. As mesmerizing as it is gruesome, Attack on Titan combines intricate action with terror and themes of hopelessness and politics for one of the most gripping stories in recent memory.

3. Dragon Ball Z/Dragon Ball (1998)

Is there a more iconic anime than Dragon Ball Z? Between the super saiyans, the kamehamehas, the yelling and the get stronger for the sake of getting stronger aphorisms, the show is arguably responsible for most of the shonen cliches we know today. It doesn’t take a lengthy look at Naruto or Monkey D. Luffy to compare their steely determination and latent, inexhaustible powers to Goku. Any superpower level up that’s triggered by emotional turmoil probably owes a debt to a certain saiyan legend.

2. Batman: The Animated Series (1997)

Taking stylistic cues from Tim Burton’s seminal 1989 film, Batman, Batman: The Animated Series was perhaps the darkest animated superhero TV series the world had ever seen when it debuted in 1992. This Batman series, one set in a 1940s-esque world that’s still got computers and other trappings of ’90s life, traded in a lot of camp for shadowy artwork and even darker storylines, reimagining the boundaries of comic book cartoons in the process. You’ve also got to give it credit for launching the DC Animated Universe, which includes Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and more.

1. Cowboy Bebop (2001)

Merging stylish neo-noir storytelling and cyberpunk aesthetics with jazz and stories that ranged from mischievous chance adventures to character-defining struggles, Cowboy Bebop is a genre-defining, shapeshifting space odyssey. Upon its release in the US, it helped introduce a new generation of fans to anime. Pretty good first impression.

Gabrielle Union Slams Disney Over Handling of “Don’t Say Gay” Bill

Gabrielle Union“Disappointed” doesn’t even come close to how Gabrielle Union feels about Disney’s public stance on Florida’s controversial legislation. Gabrielle Union Blasts at Disney’s Handling of ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill, Says ‘You Should Not Fund Hate and Oppression’ Actress Gabrielle Union has levied criticism towards the Walt Disney Company over its widely derided decision to take a soft stance regarding the new anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation in Florida.

Actor Gabrielle Union recently voiced her stance over Disney’s handling of the new anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation in Florida that will limit the conversations of gender identity and sexual orientation in the early grades. The controversial bill, dubbed Don’t Say Gay, has courted major criticism after it was deemed harmful towards the LGBTQIA+ community. Notably, the 49-year-old actor is gearing up for the release of the Disney film Cheaper by the Dozen.

For the unversed, The Walt Disney Company and CEO Bob Chapek recently came under fire for its soft handling of the controversial bill that can potentially harm its employees and cast members. Moreover, as per Variety, an Orlando Sentinel report suggested that the company has also donated financial aid to all the sponsors and co-sponsors responsible for the bill. Addressing the same, Union did not mince words while putting Disney on blast for their handling of Don’t Say Gay bill.

The Bring It On actor attended the red carpet event for the streaming release of the upcoming Disney venture Cheaper by the Dozen with her family and co-star Zach Braff. During an interview with Variety on the red carpet, Union weighed in on her reaction towards Disney’s initial stance on the bill by saying, ”Somebody asked me, ‘Are you disappointed?’ I’m disappointed when my order isn’t right at In-N-Out”.

Believing that the word ‘disappointed’ is not enough to describe her feelings, the actor continued, ”Children’s lives are literally hanging in the balance,” she added, ”We need to own that if you truly are taking stands against hate and oppression, you should not fund hate and oppression. Period. The damage is done.”

HBO Max & Discovery+ Set To Combine Into One Streaming Service Following WarnerMedia & Discovery Merger

HBO Max & Discovery+ Set To Combine Into One Streaming Service Following WarnerMedia & Discovery Merger

#X-Members, if your streaming service accounts are piling up and you’re thinking about letting some of them go—HBO Max and Discovery+ just made things a little bit easier. It was recently confirmed as part of the previously announced merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery, that both HBO Max and Discovery+ will officially combine into one massive streaming service.

@Variety reports, following its game-changing merger with Discovery set to be finalized soon, AT&T’s WarnerMedia has formally confirmed plans to combine its current streaming service Discovery+ and WarnerMedia’s HBO Max into one service—instead of two separate media platforms. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that before the two services are combined, they will first be integrated into a form of bundling as the financial returns of the new merger dictate the best (and most efficient way) to merge the two platforms to ensure success.

For a bit of breakdown, HBO Max is currently priced at $9.99 for a monthly subscription with ads and $14.99 without ads, resulting in HBO and HBO Max having a global subscription total of 73.8 million. Meanwhile, Discovery+ is $4.99 per month with ads and $6.99 without ads and a count of 22 million subscribers worldwide. Speaking about the streaming shake-up and his expectations for the outcome, Wiedenfels said “The combination could not make more sense than what we’re doing here. We have HBO Max, with a more premium, male-skewing positioning, and then you’ve got the female-positioning on the Discovery side. You’ve got the daily engagement that people enjoy with Discovery content versus sort of the event-driven nature of the HBO Max content. Take that together, I have no doubt that we will be creating one of the most complete, sort of four quadrant, old-young-male-female products out there.”

Wiedenfel also confirmed that the $43 billion Discovery/WarnerMedia deal is officially on track to close in the second quarter (for an expected date between April 11th through April 28th) following the recent approval earlier this month from Discovery shareholders. He also stated that once the combining of HBO Max and Discovery+ is complete, users can anticipate “some very nice marketing synergy right out of the gate.”

How I Met Your Father Saved Its Biggest HIMYM Cameo For the Finale

How I Met Your Father Saved Its Biggest HIMYM Cameo For the Finale

In season one’s conclusion, Hilary Duff’s Sophie is visited by a special guest from the original series.

This post contains spoilers for How I Met Your Father.

We’ve known from the start that How I Met Your Father and its CBS predecessor How I Met Your Mother take place in the same universe. But the biggest nod to the original series came in the first season finale of Hulu’s continuation, which featured a season finale cameo from Cobie Smulders. She reprised her role as Robin Scherbatsky to have an unexpected heart-to-heart with Hilary Duff’s Sophie about—what else—their twisty love lives.

The storyline began with a heartbreaking turn of events for Sophie and her will-they-won’t-they love interest Jesse (Chris Lowell), who accidentally declared his love for her in his sleep. Hearing this, Sophie flees to MacLaren’s, the oft-visited bar from HIMYM. (Coincidentally, Jesse lives above this establishment, in an apartment once occupied by Josh Radnor’s Ted and Jason Segel’s Marshall.)

As Sophie saddles up to the bar, Robin appears and reflects on her own turbulent relationship with Ted, who also proclaimed his love on their very first date. “Do not waste your time being scared, Sophie,” Robin advises. “Fear can make you run away from things that could be good. Great, even. Things that are supposed to be a part of your story. So, really think about it. What did Jesse do wrong other than say everything you ever wanted a guy to say, just faster than you expected? Sophie, I have been married, I’ve been single, I’ve been everything in between. And the only decisions I regret making are the ones I made out of fear.”

Sophie heeds Robin’s advice, but not before Jesse has seemingly reconciled with his ex Meredith (Leighton Meester). “If I’ve learned anything at all about love, it’s that timing is everything. Sometimes, timing is a bitch,” Robin says when Sophie returns to the bar, defeated. “You’re going to be okay. I’ll meet future you back here in 20 years for a drink just to make sure.” Then she’s off for dinner with fellow TV anchors Savannah Guthrie and Katie Couric.

“We just loved the idea of Sophie getting to talk to Robin and Robin getting to impart some wisdom to her about love and about life and about timing,” series co-creator Elizabeth Berger told Deadline. “Obviously, in the original, we got to see Robin go through so many chapters of her own and so many ups and downs, and it felt really organic to the story we were telling to bring her back and have her speak on those things.” So the door is now open for more cameos in HIMYF’s supersized second season.

By finale’s end, the show’s remaining characters are a romantic mixed bag. Valentina (Francia Raisa) and Charlie (Tom Ainsley) part ways when they disagree about whether they should have kids. Ellen (Tien Tran) ends things on a high note with both a new job and romantic prospect. Meanwhile, Sid (Suraj Sharma) and Hannah (Ashley Reyes) push their relationship’s logistical hurdles aside to spontaneously (disastrously?) wed.

Then there’s the matter of Sophie and Ian (Daniel Augustin), the biologist she romanced in the season’s first episode. He’s re-introduced to the fold when HIMYM’s George “The Captain” Van Smoot (Kyle MacLachlan) is revealed to have professional ties with him.
